What is The WIFI Pineapple NANO?

The WIFI Pineapple Nano is a small device that can be used to intercept wireless internet traffic and redirect the data into a man-in-the-middle attack.

The Pineapple has many different uses, but it’s not always easy for beginners to set up.

This article will take you step by step through how to set up your pineapple so you can start using it right away!

How To setup WIFI Pineapple

These setup guides outline how to install the latest version of WiFi Pineapple software.

You can complete the setup process with an Internet connection and any device that has a web browser.

Download the latest version of its firmware to ensure your WiFi Pineapple Nano is compatible running with your host device.

Open a regular web browser on the host device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware flashing process. Instructions for how to set up your WIFI Pineapple Nano are provided for common operating systems.

START SETUP SECURITY

To ensure that your WIFI Pineapple Nano is secure, you will need to press the reset button during setup. We recommend that you disable the WiFi Pineapple radios before performing setup.

If you are not connected to the WiFi Pineapple, you’ll be required to press the reset button momentarily to disable its radios.

Because the initial setup must be done over WiFi, you will need to hold the reset button for 3 or more seconds in order to continue.

The Reset button is located on the back of the WiFi Pineapple TETRA and on the underside of the WiFi Pineapple NANO.

WIFI PINEAPPLE NANO

To get started, plug your WIFI Pineapple NANO into the USB Y cable connected to a USB power supply capable of providing 9W. Use this setup process for 5-10 minutes.

  1. Download the latest WiFi Pineapple NANO firmware
  2. Plug the NANO into your computer using the included USB Y cable
  3. Entere this address IP 172.16.42.1:1471
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup

WIFI PINEAPPLE NANO ON LINUX SETUP

I’m going to demonstrate setting up the Wi Fi Pineapple Nano in Linux.

So let’s get started.

First step is to plug in our WiFi Pineapple Nano.

I’m using the USB cable here and I’m fully booted because the light is solid blue.

So if I come over to my laptop, the next part is to download the latest firmware from WiFi Pineapple Com Nano.

I have that already here in my downloads directory.

And if I issue LS USB, I’ll notice that I have an A six Electronics core fast Ethernet control.

That’s right.

If I now do if config and grep for ETH, I’ll notice that in addition to my standard ETH zero, which is the Ethernet Port on my laptop, I also have a new Ethernet Port which is over USB, and in my case it’s ETH 18.

Because I’ve been doing a lot of development and testing with life I sign up on Thanos yours will probably be ETH one or two.

With that said, I can now do if Config F 18 notice that I have an IP address on the Wi Fi Pineapples network.

So to complete the setup, we browse to 170 216 42 114 71, click Continue.

And for security, what we’ll need to do is on the reverse side of the Pineapple, press the reset button once and click Continue.

Then we’ll click Browse. And from my Downloads folder I’ll choose the bin file I just downloaded and click Upgrade.

Now this process takes about five minutes, so just be patient.

Wait for the light to stop linking when the light solid again will continue with the setup, so firmware flashing is complete.

The blue light is solid, and we’re greeted with this welcome page.

If not, refresh the browser, and the next step is to click getting started.

Now for secure boot, we need to go ahead and set it up by pressing the reset button, verify our ownership of the device, and we will be asked to go ahead and set our passwords and SSID, and we’ll log in and our Wi Fi Pineapple Nano is now set up.

So let’s go ahead and get our Internet connection sharing going.

For that, we’ll want to download the WP six script.

So you get from Wi Fi Pineapple Com P six sh. Well, now make that executable with Chon Plus XWP six s.

And if we now run WP six Sh, we’ll be notified that we need root access.

So let’s run that with pseudo, and it’s simply a matter of answering the questions.

By default, we have these network configurations which may or may not work for you.

They aren’t correct for me because mine is on Ath 18, but I do have my wand through WLAN zero, so I’ll say no and answer the question, and we’ll save these settings for next session. So we don’t have to do that again.

And now we’re connected.

So we come back over to our WiFi Pineapples.

We can Load Bulletins from WiFi Pineapple Com.

We can check for the latest firmware updates. We can download modules over the air.

SETUP WIFI PINEAPPLE NANO ON WINDOWS

I’m going to demonstrate setting up the Wi Fi Pineapple Nano in Windows.

So let’s get started. I already have my WiFi Pineapple plugged into my Windows computer here using the included USB cable.

The Led is solid blue, which means it’s booted so I can come over to WiFi Pineapple Com Nano and download the latest firmware and save that there.

And now I’ll browse to the Wi Fi Pineapple at 172 1642 114 71.

Click Continue.

Then when prompted, press the button on the bottom side of the WiFi Pineapple and continue.

Choose the file from the download and select the Upgrade bin.

Then click Upgrade.

This process takes about five minutes and during that time, do not unplug.

The WiFi Pineapple Nano were otherwise interrupted.

Power wait for the Led to finish blinking.

When it goes solid, the device is fully booted and will be greeted with the welcome screen.

If not just refresh the browser, click Get Started.

At this point, we will need to once again press the button on the bottom of the device and that will complete secure setup.

And at this point it’s simply a matter of setting up our password and SSID.

Accept the agreement and complete setup.

Then we’ll log in and at this point setup is complete.

So now let’s just configure Internet Connection sharing so that our WiFi Pineapple can get connected to the Internet through our Windows machine.

Click the Network icon and Network settings.

Then under Ethernet, choose Change Adapter options and look for the Wi Fi Pineapple network interface.

It’ll show us an A six USB Fast Ethernet adapter.

I like to Press F two to rename this and type Wi Fi Pineapple.

Then from your Internet connection source via Ethernet or in my case, WiFi right click and choose Properties. Then from the Sharing tab.

Check allow other network users to connect using the computers Internet connection.

And from the dropdown, choose WiFi Pineapple.

Click OK. Then right click the Wi Fi Pineapple and click Properties from Internet Protocol version for click Properties and change the default IP address from its 192 168 to 170 216 for two for two and click OK.

Then close.

Now we can test our WiFi Pineapples Internet connection by clicking Load volutions from WiFi Pineapple Com.

And similarly, we can go over to advance and check for the latest firmware updates, and that’s about it for initial setup and Internet connections for the Wi Fi Pineapple in Windows, let us know your thoughts and the forms and the comments, and I will see you there.

SETUP WIFI PINEAPPLE TETRA ON LINUX

This is how you setup WiFi Pineapple Tetra in Linux. So let’s get started.

The first step is to plug my computer into the WiFi Pineapples ETH Port using the supplied USB cable between the pair of USB three ports on my laptop.

I’m providing about ten Watts of power, which is sufficient for the update process, and you can learn more about the specific power considerations of this beastly device over at WiFi Pineapple Com Tetra, which is where we’ll head to download the latest firmware.

So let’s go ahead and download the latest firmware and save it to our downloads folder.

And with that, I want to verify my connection to the WiFi Pineapple Tetra by running if config in a terminal.

And you’ll notice that in addition to ETH zero, which is my laptops built in Ethernet, I also have ETH 29 and I’ve received an IP address from it in the 170 216 42 range, yours will most likely be ETH two or three.

Now with that, we can come over to 170 216 42 one 1471 and continue the setup process. We’ll click Continue.

And now for security purposes, we’ll need to press the button on the back of the WiFi Apple Tetra and click Continue.

Then we click Choose File and select our Upgrade bin and click Upgrade.

This process takes just a few minutes, so be patient and wait for the light to go out and then start blinking and finally go solid, at which point we’ll be ready to continue.

Set up.

The blue light is solid, which means the firmware update is complete, and now we’re graded with the welcome screen.

So if not, hit refresh and it’s just a matter of clicking getting Started from here.

Once again we will press the button on the back of the Wi Fi Pineapple Tetra a verify ownership, and from here we fill out the form to complete the setup.

Once again, we’ll log in, and at this point we can set up Internet connection sharing. We can do this by downloading the WP five script from WiFi Pineapple Com WP six sh, make that executable and run that as root.

Alternatively, we can plug the Live network cable into the Tetras Ethernet Port and click Load Bulletins from the dashboard to verify.

And so with that, our WiFi Pineapple Tetra is online.
